Federal STC rebates — how Australia’s solar rebate works in 2026

Every eligible Australian home solar installation generates STCs that reduce the upfront cost. In 2026 we still assign them as part of the quote.

Small-scale Technology Certificates are the national rebate hiding in every solar and (where eligible) battery quote. They are created at install, assigned to a buyer, and the value comes off what you pay. The number of certificates depends on system size, location zone and the deeming period left on the scheme.

Northern Victoria and southern NSW sit in a strong solar zone, which is why a kilowatt here is worth more in STCs than the same kilowatt in Tasmania. That is already in our pricing.

We do not add STCs back as a “bonus” after you sign. The quote you see is after assignment. If a competitor’s number looks cheaper, ask whether you are looking at a before-STC figure.

STCs decline over time as the scheme steps down. Waiting a year “for prices to drop” is often waiting while the rebate itself gets thinner and power gets dearer.
